Homework

Dear Grade 4 Parents,

As a new school year begins, it is important to make both you and your children aware of our homework policy. Now that we have TeacherEase, an online grading system, we will no longer be sending home Missed Assignments sheets for parents to sign. Parents should check to see if a child passed in a homework assignment on this website.  Please note that some homework assignments such as spelling may be posted on a weekly basis.

Your child’s homework will be posted on TeacherEase each night, however your child is responsible to write all assignments in his/her agenda book each day. Nightly studying assignments may NOT always appear on TeacherEase, however these assignments should be written in your child’s agenda book. We ask that you check the agenda book each night and check over your child’s homework to be sure that he/she has completed it neatly, completely and to the best of his/her abilities.

Each incomplete homework assignment that a student misses will result in either a 5 point deduction on the total homework grade for the term, or 5 points taken off the assignment he/she missed. This will be depending on the subject and assignment that was missed. In addition, the student will also have to forfeit snack or lunch recess, during which he/she will be completing the assignment missed.

If a student misses more than two assignments per subject area during the course of the term a parent conference will be scheduled to discuss further consequences.

We also understand that circumstances sometimes arise at home that may not allow for a child to complete their homework, due to an illness or an emergency of some sort. If this does occur, please have your child bring in a note explaining the circumstances. We will gladly wave the policy for that day, if need be.

This policy is to help teach the students that they need to be responsible when it comes to their homework. Homework is used to reinforce and practice what is taught in the classroom. It is very important for students to have their homework completed each night, so that no one falls behind.

Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Andrewchuk & Mrs. Sullivan
